Cardio for a Kause is an annual charity indoor rowing (erg-ing) event dedicated to raising crucial funds and awareness for the early detection of Gastroparesis—a severe medical condition that paralyzes or significantly slows stomach emptying, leading to chronic malnutrition and life-threatening complications.   Participation is open to everyone, with a suggested donation of $25. 🧡 Support the Cause Make a Difference: You can make a donation, support the event directly, or track our progress through the official Cardio for a Kause Fundraiser Page. The Story Behind the Event The event was created in 2021 by Brent Berger to honor the memory of his sister, Erika Berger.   The Challenge: At age 14, Erika began experiencing debilitating symptoms. Because early detection tools were unavailable, her condition was misdiagnosed as an eating disorder.   The Delayed Diagnosis: By the time she received an accurate diagnosis three years later, the damage to her body was irreversible. Despite fighting alongside medical experts for the remainder of her youth, Erika passed away at just 24 years old.   The Legacy: Erika was a passionate, high-level athlete who loved fitness. Brent established this event to channel her love for exercise and her spirit of community into a force for common good.   Event Details & How to Participate Date & Timing: August 15, 2026. In Madison, the event will take place from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM CST.
